Ingredients

  • 1 kg beef brisket
  • 2 tablespoons oil
  • 1 large onion sliced
  • 3 garlic cloves minced
  • 1 cup beef broth
  • 1/2 cup barbecue sauce
  • 2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tablespoon brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon salt

Instructions

Prepare the Brisket

  • Take the brisket and pat it dry with paper towel. Season both sides with salt, pepper, and paprika. This helps build flavor before cooking.

Sear the Meat

  • Heat oil in a pan over medium heat. Place brisket and sear each side for a few minutes until brown. This locks in juices and adds rich flavor.

Prepare the Sauce

  • In a bowl, mix beef broth, barbecue sauce, Worcestershire sauce, and brown sugar. Stir well until smooth. This sauce will keep the brisket juicy.

Add Onions and Garlic

  • Place sliced onions and garlic in a roasting pan. Put the seared brisket on top. This creates a flavorful base for slow cooking.

Pour the Sauce

  • Pour the prepared sauce over the brisket. Make sure it covers most of the meat. This helps it cook evenly and stay moist.

Cover and Bake

  • Cover the pan tightly with foil. Bake in a preheated oven at 160°C (320°F) for about 3 hours. Slow cooking makes the meat very tender.

Check and Baste

  • Halfway through cooking, open the foil and spoon sauce over the meat. This adds more flavor and keeps it from drying out.

Rest and Slice

  • Once cooked, let the brisket rest for 10 minutes. Slice it against the grain. Serve with extra sauce on top for best taste.

Notes

  • Cook longer for extra tenderness
  • Use smoked paprika for deeper flavor
  • Add chili flakes for spice
  • Use honey instead of sugar
  • Try slow cooker instead of oven
  • Slice against grain for soft texture
