Ingredients

  • 1 kg ground beef
  • 1 packet Lipton onion soup mix
  • 1 cup breadcrumbs
  • 2 eggs
  • ¾ cup milk
  • ½ cup ketchup
  • 2 tablespoons ketchup for topping
  • 1 tablespoon mustard optional
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder

Instructions

Preheat the Oven

  • Set your oven to 180°C (350°F). Let it heat fully before baking. This step helps the meatloaf cook evenly. Prepare your baking dish by lightly greasing it.

Mix the Ingredients

  • In a large bowl, add ground beef, onion soup mix, breadcrumbs, eggs, milk and ketchup. Mix gently using your hands or spoon. Do not overmix. This keeps the meatloaf soft and juicy.

Shape the Meatloaf

  • Transfer the mixture to your baking dish. Shape it into a loaf form. Press gently so it holds together. Make sure the shape is even for proper cooking.

Add Topping

  • Spread a thin layer of ketchup on top. You can also mix ketchup with mustard for extra flavor. This creates a tasty glaze while baking.

Bake the Meatloaf

  • Place the dish in the oven. Bake for about 50 to 55 minutes. The top should look slightly caramelized. The inside should be fully cooked.

Rest Before Serving

  • Remove from oven and let it rest for 10 minutes. This helps juices settle. Slice carefully and serve warm.

Notes

  • Use lean beef for less grease
  • Add chopped onions or bell peppers for extra flavor
  • Try ground chicken or turkey for a lighter version
  • Add cheese inside for a creamy twist
  • Use oats instead of breadcrumbs
  • Do not skip resting time
  • Avoid overmixing the meat
