Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 2 tablespoons sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 1/2 cups milk
  • 1/4 cup melted butter
  • 1 tablespoon lemon zest
  • 2 tablespoons lemon juice
  • 1 cup fresh blueberries
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup maple syrup
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 1/4 cup powdered sugar

Instructions

Prepare Dry Ingredients

  • Take a large bowl and add flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt, and sugar. Mix well with a whisk. This helps everything spread evenly for soft and fluffy waffles.

Mix Wet Ingredients

  • In another bowl, add eggs, milk, melted butter, lemon juice, lemon zest, and vanilla. Whisk until smooth. The mixture should look creamy and slightly frothy for best texture.

Combine Batter

  • Slowly pour wet ingredients into dry ingredients. Stir gently until just combined. Do not overmix. A few small lumps are okay and help keep waffles light and airy.

Add Blueberries

  • Gently fold in blueberries using a spatula. Be careful not to crush them. This keeps berries whole and juicy inside waffles while cooking.

Heat Waffle Maker

  • Preheat waffle maker and lightly grease it with butter or oil. This prevents sticking and gives crispy golden edges to your waffles.

Cook the Waffles

  • Pour batter into waffle maker. Close lid and cook until golden brown. Each waffle should be crisp outside and soft inside. Repeat until all batter is used.

Make Maple Glaze

  • In a small pan, melt butter and add maple syrup. Stir in powdered sugar slowly. Cook for 1–2 minutes until smooth and slightly thick.

Serve and Enjoy

  • Pour warm maple glaze over waffles. Serve immediately while hot. Add extra blueberries or lemon zest if you want extra freshness and flavor.

Notes

  • Use buttermilk for richer flavor
  • Add white chocolate chips for sweetness
  • Replace blueberries with raspberries
  • Do not overmix batter for fluffy waffles
  • Add cinnamon for warm spice flavor
  • Keep waffles warm in oven before serving
