Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup chopped dill pickles
  • ¾ cup pickle juice
  • ½ cup milk
  • 2 tablespoons melted butter
  • 1 egg
  • 1 tablespoon fresh dill optional
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder

Instructions

Prepare the Dry Ingredients

  • In a large bowl, mix flour, baking powder, salt, and garlic powder. Stir well so everything is evenly combined for a smooth dough base.

Mix Wet Ingredients

  • In another bowl, whisk milk, egg, melted butter, and pickle juice. Mix until everything is smooth and fully blended.

Combine Wet and Dry Mixtures

  • Slowly pour the wet mixture into the dry ingredients. Stir gently until a thick batter forms. Do not overmix to keep bread soft.

Add Pickles and Dill

  • Fold in chopped dill pickles and fresh dill. Mix gently so the pickles spread evenly without breaking the batter texture.

Prepare Baking Pan

  • Grease a loaf pan lightly with butter. Pour the batter into the pan. Spread it evenly with a spoon for even baking.

Bake the Bread

  • Place the pan in a preheated oven at 350°F. Bake for about 45 minutes. The top should turn golden brown and firm.

Cool and Serve

  • Remove from oven and let it cool for 10 minutes. Slice and serve warm or at room temperature for best flavor.

Notes

  • Use bread and butter pickles for a sweeter taste
  • Add shredded cheese for extra richness
  • Use whole wheat flour for a healthier version
  • Add chopped onions for stronger flavor
  • Brush butter on top after baking
