Ingredients

  • 1 cup Bob's Red Mill polenta
  • 4 cups water or broth
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • ½ cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper

Instructions

Boil the Liquid

  • Pour water or broth into a saucepan. Add salt and bring it to a boil. This step is important for soft and smooth polenta texture.

Add the Polenta Slowly

  • Reduce heat to low. Slowly pour polenta into the boiling liquid. Stir constantly using a whisk. This prevents lumps and keeps the texture smooth.

Cook and Stir

  • Cook the polenta on low heat. Stir often for about 20 to 25 minutes. It will thicken slowly and become creamy. Keep stirring to avoid sticking at the bottom.

Add Butter and Cheese

  • Once the polenta is soft, add butter and Parmesan cheese. Mix well until melted. This makes the polenta rich and flavorful.

Season and Finish

  • Add black pepper and adjust salt if needed. Stir again until everything is well combined. The texture should be smooth and creamy.

Serve Warm

  • Pour the polenta into a serving bowl. Serve it warm for best taste. You can add extra cheese or herbs on top.

Notes

  • Use broth instead of water for more flavor
  • Add garlic for extra taste
  • Mix in cooked vegetables
  • Add cream for extra richness
  • Use herbs like thyme or basil
