Ingredients

  • 2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup unsalted butter softened
  • 3/4 cup brown sugar
  • 3/4 cup white sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 2 cups chocolate chips

Instructions

Preheat the Oven

  • Start by preheating your oven to 180°C (350°F). This helps cookies bake evenly. Line your baking tray with parchment paper. This stops cookies from sticking and makes cleaning easy later.

Mix Butter and Sugars

  • In a large bowl, mix softened butter, brown sugar, and white sugar. Beat until the mixture becomes light and creamy. This step is important for soft cookies.

Add Eggs and Vanilla

  • Add eggs one at a time. Mix well after each egg. Then add vanilla extract. Stir until everything is smooth. The mixture should look soft and fluffy.

Add Dry Ingredients

  • In another bowl, mix flour, baking soda, and salt. Slowly add this to the wet mixture. Stir gently until everything is combined. Do not overmix the dough.

Add Chocolate Chips

  • Now add chocolate chips to the dough. Mix gently so they spread evenly. This is the best part because chocolate makes everything better.

Shape the Cookies

  • Take small portions of dough and roll into balls. Place them on the baking tray. Leave space between each cookie so they can spread while baking.

Bake the Cookies

  • Bake for 9–11 minutes or until edges are golden. The center may look soft, but that is perfect. Let them cool on the tray for a few minutes.

Cool and Enjoy

  • Transfer cookies to a cooling rack. Let them cool fully or enjoy warm. The chocolate will be soft and melted inside.

Notes

  • Chill dough for thicker cookies
  • Use dark chocolate chips for stronger flavor
  • Add chopped nuts for crunch
  • Replace butter with margarine if needed
  • Sprinkle sea salt for sweet and salty taste
