Ingredients

  • 1 cup white rice
  • 4 cups milk
  • 1 cup water
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1 cinnamon stick
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup condensed milk optional
  • Ground cinnamon for topping

Instructions

Cook the Rice

  • Add rice and water to a saucepan. Cook on medium heat until water is mostly absorbed. Stir gently so rice does not stick. This is the base for creamy texture.

Add Milk and Cinnamon

  • Pour in milk and add cinnamon stick. Stir well. Let it simmer slowly. The rice will start absorbing the milk and become soft and creamy.

Sweeten the Mixture

  • Add sugar and salt. Mix gently. Keep cooking on low heat. Stir often to avoid burning. The mixture will start getting thicker and sweeter.

Add Vanilla Flavor

  • Add vanilla extract for aroma and taste. If using condensed milk, add it now. Stir well until everything is combined. This makes the dessert richer and creamier.

Simmer Slowly

  • Let the mixture cook on low heat for about 20 minutes. Stir occasionally. The rice should become very soft and the texture should look creamy and thick.

Finish and Serve

  • Remove cinnamon stick. Spoon into serving bowls. Sprinkle ground cinnamon on top. Serve warm or chilled depending on your preference. Both ways taste delicious.

Notes

  • Use full-fat milk for creamier texture
  • Add raisins for extra sweetness
  • Use coconut milk for tropical flavor
  • Stir often to prevent sticking
  • Serve cold for a refreshing dessert
  • Add nutmeg for warm spice flavor
